Who do I serve?

Georgia is divided into 159 counties and 49 judicial circuits. There are approximately 350 municipal (city) courts, and each county has its own court system. For criminal matters, some counties have state courts for less serious offenses, while others have probate courts that also hear criminal cases. Still others rely primarily on their Superior Courts for all criminal matters. Georgia also has two levels of appellate courts: the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court. This is a convoluted system and it has some somewhat bizarre features. For example, in less densely populated areas, probate court judges (who, as I’ve said, sometimes hear complicated criminal matters) don’t even have to be attorneys!

Understanding your local jurisdiction and how the courts work can make the difference between a dismissal and a jail sentence. In my ten years as a Georgia Criminal Defense Attorney, I have handled hundreds of misdemeanor and felony offenses throughout the State. I serve clients in 64 counties across North and Central Georgia. Each of the areas serviced are depicted on the map in blue. I can guide you through every step of the way and clear up any confusion or doubts you may have regarding your case. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Get in touch today.
